Dr. David E. Brooks graduated with honors, earning a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM) from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. He currently holds an active Veterinary Medicine license for both North Carolina and South Carolina. Dr. Brooks started his practice, Pembroke Veterinary Hospital, in July of 1978 and continues to serve with a clinical practice of both small and large animal medicine and surgery.
Dr. Brooks was the first minority to serve on the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board and has been a forerunner for his people as the first Lumbee Indian Veterinarian.
For more than ten years, Dr. Brooks was the first and only Lumbee Indian to own and operate a clinical Veterinary practice, as well as the first Lumbee Indian to serve on a professional four year Medical Licensing Board.
Dr. Brooks is married to his wife, Wanda, and they have 5 children, 3 grandchildren.
